poor old internet...

I really have to get on this web site update upgrade thing but I've been spending all my time writing charts and tunes and practicing - argh! Getting ready for a show with Rosie Bitts on Feb 10 @ Hermann's plus a couple shows with my new jazz & country trios. Wrote a new original tune the other day too. How about that. Now, back to this internet thing...

I'm just about finished mastering a live recording of me performing solo at the Victoria Event Centre this fall. Here's a band demo. Smoke, Smoke, Smoke (That Cigarette) was written by Merle Travis and Tex Williams. We have a good time playing it.

And another one of the songs the band's been working on. Duke Ellington's "Black & Tan Fantasy" arranged by yours truly. I added a little minor key section - hope Ellington doesn't mind.

Dave Lang & The Black Squirrels - Black & Tan Fantasy

Click here to listen to me singing a country duet with Carolyn Mark from the olden days! I'm going to be recording her performing a song in my studio for her next record.

Some reviews:

"Dave Lang is an original throwback to a time when subtlety and good humour meant something. A literate mind, with a touch of Tom Lehrer attached to a subversive heart. This is a show to experience.”
     - Mitch Podolak (Artistic Director, Home Routes & co-founder Winnipeg Folk Fest)

"I really enjoyed your performance, the 45 minute set went by way too fast!"
     - Kevin Pulvermacher, Artistic Director, Bruno Cherry Festival
