Dave Lang and his group “the Insolent Rabble” play jazz and swing like it was meant to be played. Their music is irreverent, fast, and fun. The only flats they worry about happen on the road and they can’t pronounce Phrygian but they’re pretty sure it has something to do with cold beer. This band changes the way people think about jazz. Original tunes like “Ou Est La Vache” and “She Just Went Crazy” are well received as are their novel arrangements of standards. Performance highlights include appearances at The Empress Hotel, Butchart Gardens, Rifflandia, and The Vancouver Island MusicFest. Dave Lang & the Insolent Rabble are proud to be the right band for any occasion, and they are just as comfortable playing a big festival or a fancy sit down show as they are busking on Victoria’s Inner Harbour Causeway. In 2016, they logged more than 100 paid performances.

Dave Lang has written music for film and television and his songs have been covered by the likes of Corb Lund, Neko Case, Carolyn Mark, and Geoff Berner.

“I go to every one of these shows, but I usually fall asleep. I didn’t fall asleep at all when you guys were playing!”
